Mobile phones worth Rs 25 lakhs stolen from shop awaiting inauguration

As the city police remained busy with bandobast and security arrangements for the grand scale celebrations organised in the city to mark the 126th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, unidentified masked suspects burgled a mobile phone shop in Aurangpura area sometime between 4.45 am and 5.45 am on Friday.

AURANGABAD: As the city police remained busy with bandobast and security arrangements for the grand scale celebrations organised in the city to mark the 126th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, unidentified masked suspects burgled a mobile phone shop in Aurangpura area sometime between 4.45 am and 5.45 am on Friday.
Shop ‘Sai Collection’ owned by Yogesh Rameshlal Gokhlani, was awaiting inauguration.

The theft committed by the masked burglars, suspected to be eight in number, has been caught in the CCTV cameras installed in the shop but due to poor light faces of the suspects could not be identified. In this incident, brand new mobile phones to the tune of Rs 25 lakhs have reportedly been stolen.
Taking cognizance of the serious property offence, senior police officers including the deputy commissioner of police Zone-I along with teams from the crime branch, cybercrime branch paid spot visit before collecting the CCTV footages for analysis.
